What are SFP28 and QSFP28 Transceivers?
The SFP28 leverages the same form factor as SFP and SFP+ transceivers, but the SFP28 module is defined by its ability to support transmission rates of 25GB in one lane.
The Q in QSFP28 stands for quad, supporting 4 lanes of 25G, for an aggregate data rate of 100G! The QSFP28 transceiver has many interface types, offering standard duplex connections up to 80KM and parallel optics for break out connectivity.

How it Works
Working hand in hand, QSFP28 to SFP28 breakout connectivity demonstrate how both cables complement one another in 100G networks. Breakout cables, known as DACs and AOCs, are a great solution for upgrading your network without the added complexity of fiber cabling. Breakout DAC and AOCs consist of a 100G QSFP28 end, split to four 25G SFP28 ends to aggregate 25G traffic to a 100G port.
